MARTZ COMMUTER UPDATE 6/29/2009


To All National Coach Works Commuter Customers:


We are continuing to review and discuss your many suggestions and comments in response to our 6/23/09 commuter notice but are prepared to make some preliminary announcements regarding our commuter operation at this time, as follows:


1)  We will NOT discontinue or cancel ANY of our commuter routes on 7/6/09 as previously announced; instead, we will run our normal schedule throughout the months of July and possibly August as we continue our review of your input and comments.

2)  We will continue to accept additional commuter input and feedback
through the glcommuterfeedback@martzgroup.com email address until July 10, 2009; at that point in time, all input/suggestions will be consolidated and reviewed as part of our effort to improve existing runs,  increase our level of customer service, and streamline our operation.

3)  We will announce all changes and improvements, as well as any new programs and/or policies, no later than Friday, July 31, 2009; we anticipate implementing all announced improvements no later than Monday, September 7, 2009 (Labor Day).

4)  The previously announced price increases will still occur on Monday, July 6, 2009.

Your input is appreciated and valued - we understand that you have other commuter options and we will continue to work to earn your business.

We want to thank each and every one of our commuters who provided feedback and input related to our "Notice of Fare Increase/Changes in Service" document that was distributed earlier this month.   In light of your suggestions and comments, we are conducting a review of all of our proposed changes and we anticipate some revised announcement to be forthcoming within the next week.  


Your input is greatly appreciated and applauded – we will continue to endeavor to make our commuter service a viable option for our many customers.

NOTICE OF FARE INCREASE/CHANGES IN SERVICE
EFFECTIVE 7/6/09

To All National Coach Works Commuter Customers:

Although we are sensitive to pricing and operational changes that impact our commuter customers, we are in a position where we find it necessary to make significant changes in both areas.    We continue to find that many of the products we purchase (tires, parts, cleaning materials, etc.) continue to increase in price despite the downturn in the economy.   Likewise, because of the economy, we are seeing changes in the ridership patterns for various commuter runs that we originate out of Fredericksburg to DC.    We realize that any changes we make affect our commuter customers.   Because of our concern for our customers, we are making our changes known now, well in advance of the July 6th effective date, so that these changes are more manageable for our commuters.

The pricing changes are as follows:

Monthly Ticket - $280

20 Ride Ticket - $205

10 Ride Ticket - $130

5 Ride Ticket - $70

1-Way Ticket - $22

As for operational changes, the following commuter runs will be eliminated:

DC 1 – PM only

DC 12 – AM only

DC 9 – both AM and PM runs

Additionally, over the past 30 days, we have retired the eight oldest coaches in the fleet in our effort to continue to upgrade the vehicles being used on commuter runs.

Our goal continues to be to provide you with safe, reliable and courteous service.  We appreciate your business and will continue to do all that we can to deliver an excellent value in transportation to our passengers.
